M's 1st haircut

After numerous comments on our pretty little "girl," I finally broke down and took M to get his first haircut. This was also strongly influenced by the threat my husband gave me of taking him to the barber shop! Although I was so sad to have all the beautiful curls cut off, he really looks so cute. It is amazing how much the 1st haircut transforms the appearance of a little boy. He was so good and did not fuss at all... of course it helped that they gave him animal cookies and a sucker! It is a little shorter than I wanted, but I keep telling myself that it will grow. He looks so handsome and grown up now! I think I am selfishly wanting him to keep his curls since they are one of the only visible things either of my boys have that looks like me!

Happy Face

This morning, the strangest thing happened, the boys and I were actually waiting on Daddy to be ready for church... the good thing is that it gave me a chance to take a few pictures of the boys together... and clean! N actually likes to take pictures lately because he likes to see himself in the digital camera afterwards.
This morning he said, "Mommy, take anutha pitcher uv me wif my hwappy face." This is what I got:

Now, I just have to capture his "sad" face... it's priceless!

Communication

M has found yet another way to communicate without speaking. This morning, he started nodding his head "yes." The funny thing is that he is not very coordinated yet and so heavy that when he nods his head (quite enthusiastically), his whole body moves with him! It is really pretty funny. He also pulls us where he wants us to go by our clothing, hand whatever. He's very strong and opinionated!
Speaking of communication... N is my charmer. Last night when I got on to him about something, he smiled this sweet smile he has started making when he wants something and said... "Mommy, I wuv you soooo much!" He is experimenting with new faces and of course found a particularly obnoxious one the morning of pictures... that was a memory. We have been talking a lot about happy faces and sad faces. I have been explaining to him that Jesus made him handsome and it makes Jesus sad when he makes these bad faces and disobeys. Last night, during a mini-tantrum, he looked up at me with a horrible look and said "Vesus wan me be bad today!" Interpretation: (Jesus wants me to be bad today.) This of course brought on another conversation of how Jesus wants us to act. It is so funny to me the things that a three year old comes up with and the behavioral / mood swings they have!

Meet "M"

"M" is 15 months. He is a little more of a mixture with mommy's shape of face, blue eyes and strawberry blonde curly hair, but with his daddy's eyes and mouth. M is pretty easygoing, but also pretty fiesty! He entertains himself and is extremely independent. Recently, I have noticed an extremely strong willed side of M... He is either wonderful or terrible... there is no in between. When he wants something, he better get it or else! M is a very quick learner and very vocal, but refuses to say words yet. He just points and grunts and so far is content with getting by with that. He has started pointing and high-pitched squealing also which is not so much fun for anyone else in the room! He is a bruiser and barrells through a room like a tank! He is solid and thick and bigger than N was at this age. We call him our "Chunky Monkey." His favorite thing to do in the world is eat and he does it with some enthusiasm. He will eat all day long and likes pretty much everything. His favorite thing to do is to make a loud chomping noise as he shoves food into his mouth! M also is our climber and has been found atop tables and sofas. He also love animals and probably loves our sweet golden retriever a little too much! M follows N around and wants to do everything he does. He is our curious child and follows us from room to room watching what we are doing. He is especially curious about the vacuum in particular. He isn't as sensitive as N and just looks at you and smiles when you tell him "No." He has a big toothy grin which he shows off all of the time. M is a daddy's boy and lights up when he enters the room. He's our cuddle bug and loves to hold hands. He is a very happy child and a true joy to be around.

Meet "N"

N is the oldest. He is 3 years and 3 months. At his Dr.'s appt. last week, N is 38" tall and 35 lbs... which is pretty average in weight, but 75th percentile in height. N is the spitting image of his daddy, but has beautiful blue eyes with gorgeous eyelashes. He is very loving and gives great big hugs and kisses. He has a touch of O.C.D. (like his mommy!) and has always liked things orderly. N has always lined up his cars and trucks and likes to draw straight lines. His personality is shy at first, but very talkative after a few minutes of warming up. N is all boy and loves trains and baseball. His first word was "ball." N has always been a little bit of a clothing freak (like his daddy!) and wakes up most days knowing what he wants to wear. He has lots of baseball clothes and calls his tennis shoes "baseball vooshes." He used to refer to all shirts as "baseball verts," but now realizes that some shirts look like baseball shirts and some do not... of course, getting him to wear the regular shirts can be quite a challenge! He says the cutest things and is starting to put ideas and thoughts together. As a mature 3 year old, he is obsessed with "do it mysef" and after he has done it... whether it is right or not... happily says "I did it. You so pwoud ov me!" His language is precious right now, albeit hard to understand. He is a little sponge. He is very sensitive and wants approval. He is hard headed, but tender as well. He is very opinionated and remembers everything!

Getting started...

Let me start by saying that I know absolutely nothing about blogging... so bear with me! However, with every passing day I hear something precious that my son has said or remember something cute that they did and realize that I need to be writing things down, but never do. The way I see it, I get on my computer every day, so hopefully this will make me record these wonderful memories!
